Archive Review – Boyhood (2014 Richard Linklater)

In short, this is an incredible achievement in cinema. The vision and the fearlessness to go through with it. Linklater has managed something amazing. And there I was thinking he was just a spliffster who makes an odd good movie now and again. It’s very simply but poignantly done. The actors are obviously growing and changing over the years too but man, how the story is kept true and focused from start to finish is astounding. I am sure there are elements to Linklater’s life both in the kid and the father. The characters are all great to watch and see develop, in particular the mum, dad, son and daughter. It’s all about life man. And such a wonderful ode to it.
